Delhi Capitals, the JSW and GMR co-owned franchise, has retained a total of 15 players ahead of the Women’s Premier League auction 1. The retained players include 5 overseas players and 10 Indian players 1. The franchise has released three players from the squad, namely, Wicketkeeper-batter Aparna Mondal, opener Jasia Akhter, and Amerian fast bowling all-rounder Tara Norris.
Head Coach Jonathan Batty expressed his regret over the decision to release these players and wished them the best for their future endeavors. Assistant Coach Hemlata Kala mentioned that the franchise organized off-season camps to assess the physical condition and skills of the existing players and the available talent. The coaching group is hoping for a successful auction going into the new season.

The Delhi Capitals is an Indian women’s cricket team that competes in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) and is based in New Delhi. The team is owned by GMR Group and JSW Group, who also own the men’s team. The team is coached by Jonathan Batty and captained by Meg Lanning. The team was established in 2023 and has not won any WPL titles yet 1. The team reached the final of the inaugural edition of the WPL after finishing top of the group, but lost in the final to Mumbai Indians. The team signed 18 players for their squad in the inaugural player auction for the WPL held on 13 February 2023. The team’s principal sponsor for WPL 2023 is JSW Paints.
