How many matches will be played in IPL 2023?

A total of 74 matches will be played in IPL 2023 across 12 venues in India. This is the second season in a row where the 10 teams will play these many matches after the inclusion of two new teams last year – Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants.

There will be 70 league matches and once the results of the playoffs are declared, four matches in the playoffs will be played to determine the result of IPL 2023.

Each team will play 14 matches in the league stage as the 10 teams are divided into two groups. Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Lucknow Super Giants are part of one group.

On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, and Sunrisers Hyderabad are placed in the other group.

Unlike last season, each team will play against the teams from the same group only once while they are scheduled to face twice with teams from different groups.
