Indian right-arm fast bowler RP Singh won the purple cap playing for Deccan Chargers in the 2nd season. He took 23 wickets in 16 matches with an economy of 6.98. His best bowling figure in the season was 4/22 against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Sohail Tanvir merely claimed that Pakistani players had participated in the league's initial season since that was sufficient evidence. The left-arm pacer, who was playing for Rajasthan in 2008, was crucial to his team's success in reaching the championship game.
