England T20 World Cup Squad 2024

On Tuesday, Archer was announced as part of England’s 15-player squad for the upcoming ninth edition of the T20 World Cup in June. After facing various injury concerns, the tall right-arm appears to have fully recovered and is set to make his return to international cricket after more than a year.

Although Archer missed England’s memorable victory at the previous T20 World Cup in Australia in 2022 due to injury, he played a crucial role in the squad that secured England’s first ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup title in 2019. His presence is anticipated to be vital once again as England aims for consecutive triumphs in the shortest format of the international game.

England’s pace bowling contingent for the T20 World Cup includes Mark Wood, Sam Curran, Chris Jordan, and Reece Topley. However, according to managing director Rob Key, none of them possess the match-winning prowess of Archer.

Key highlights Archer’s versatility to bowl effectively in any phase of the game, making him a standout performer. He eagerly anticipates Archer’s return to action during the T20 World Cup.

Nasser Hussain, a respected commentator and former England cricketer, is also excited about Archer’s inclusion in the squad. He draws parallels between Archer and India’s Jasprit Bumrah, emphasizing Archer’s ability to excel in various phases of the game.

England is scheduled to travel to the Caribbean on May 31 for their opening match against Scotland in Barbados on June 4. They are placed in Group B alongside Australia, Namibia, Scotland, and Oman for the T20 World Cup.
